Time to start making some friends? I’ve got a similar situation, damn near just my wife and I and our son. But I’ve Awesome Heart Bird Shirt with people. I worked somewhere for a couple years then they laid us off due to covid. It was really close to my manager, but he stopped replying to my texts. And calls just a couple months after our store closed. I think about this a lot. I’m a middle aged man, with no siblings, no children and no close family. I only have my parents and my wife. I also don’t have any close friends anymore and at my age is very hard to make new ones. In 10/15 years, it will probably only be my wife and I. So, if something happens to her then, I will be left an old man all alone in the world.

I ran into him downtown, we both have new jobs now. He said he got a new phone – I gave him my number, he Awesome Heart Bird Shirt. Ran into him again, made him call my phone so I could have his number. Called/texted him once and he didn’t respond. Which I just don’t get – we were pretty close (I thought) well aligned politically, in personal views on life, education, appreciation for the arts. Not sure what it was that he decided he wants to avoid me. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was his wife discouraging him from talking to me (and another coworker) because she’s like a bipolar psychopath, and he’s whipped AF. Maybe he decided to blame us for losing his job, and she said for him to never contact us again. Who knows.
