I feel like this would just hurt already struggling family-run businesses by forcing them to pay their workers more when they already can’t afford it. How this legislation would do anything long term. There are plenty of examples out there of businesses that pay workers a living wage AND still keep reasonable prices on the products they offer. The whole “but what if they raise prices” argument is just dumb. This seems incredibly ironic. Having an unelected official with the title of a system of government that you left behind. Able to stop the passing of a bill from elected officials?!? Sounds like the kinda of ridiculous things you read in history books about societies that collapsed or revolted.
