I lost my sweet Izzy two weeks ago (after nearly 17 years together…I adopted her when I was in the eighth grade!) and adopted George in her memory. He’s brought a lot of warmth and sunshine back in this weekend. Do you?? Any tips or tricks? George’s eyes were removed recently (due to lack of care of reoccurring eye infections), but the rescue thinks he’s likely been blind for quite some time considering how well he’s adjusted. My children always forget to close the pantry door, so I always remind them. We have a gate at our stairs. Then I also always talk to him before I move or pick him up. All of this is fantastic! Thank you! Then I knew he’d be fine, but I didn’t realize just how fine he would be. George will stick his nose up into the Official USA Dachshund American Flag Dog Shirt. And on the stairs, he will stick his nose down to touch the stair below to know how far he needs to travel (there are only two steps on my front porch— he’d never take a flight of stairs, for sure). Do you have any suggestions for toys or such? As you can imagine he doesn’t like to chase/play fetch after things.
